Last year, Yahoo changed their terms of service (TOS) and API. This effectively killed our very popular forecasts module, as I felt the using the new API in the Forecast module would violate the TOS. The Bodhi team was also unsatisfied with either the TOS or the API of various weather websites we could use in this module. While we did develop a working prototype using another API we were never satisfied enough with it to release it. Development stalled somewhat as we moved on to other tasks. A few weeks ago, Štefan decided to investigate the possibility of using the wttr.in API. Today, we have added this new Forecasts module to Bodhi Linux’s repo and re-adding it to our AppCenter. While this release is a beta-release, it should be stable enough for daily usage.
